About Us

Out There Surf has been part of the Waiheke community since 1998, when Brett and Joy McDonald decided the island needed a surf shop. What started as selling to a few friends grew into converting a garage in Ostend and eventually into the store you know today. Brett, a Waiheke local and surfer himself, is still our landlord and pops in regularly. 

Now owned and operated by Abby and Richard for the past 13 years. We've loved every moment of being part of this incredible community. Out There Surf isn't just a store — it's a slice of island life, a place to connect, gear up, and embrace the spirit of Waiheke. Thanks for being a part of our journey.
